A Story Told Through Emilia’s Eyes

ILLUSTRATION & VISUAL STORYTELLING - CONCEPT ILLUSTRATED CHILDREN’S BOOK

Children's book titled 'A Story Told Through Emilia's Eyes' with an illustration of a young girl and a man, with the girl riding on the man's shoulders. The background has blue water and goldfish, and the cover has hearts and sparkles.

Overview

Developed a concept illustrated children’s book exploring fatherhood and early childhood connection through a first-person infant perspective. The project blends narrative writing, character design, and soft-textured illustration to create an intimate and emotionally driven storytelling experience.

A man and a young girl are walking hand in hand, both blushing. The man is giving a cheerful expression, and they are engaging in happy activities such as taking a selfie, looking at a photo of the man, and imagining being with a happy person in a sky filled with clouds.

Challenge

● Translate complex emotional themes into a simple, childlike narrative voice

Maintain visual softness while preserving expressive character detail

Build a cohesive illustration style that supports pacing and warmth

Solution

● Established a warm, limited color palette to reinforce emotional softness

● Used textured brushwork to evoke traditional storybook warmth

● Balanced negative space and illustration density to support pacing
